How to use this kit

Read in this order, and stop when your time runs out. The files are ranked by probability, not by syllabus order.

# File Read when Time
1 01-EXAM-FORMAT-AND-PREDICTION.md First, always 10 min
2 02-CORE-ANSWERS.md Tier-1 topics — near-certain 2 hrs
3 03-UNITS-6-7-COLLECTIONS-ADVANCED.md If your paper covers repo Units 6–7 1.5 hrs
4 04-QUESTION-BANK-ALL-41.md Full coverage pass 2 hrs
5 05-ASSIGNMENT-SOLUTIONS.md Assignments carry marks 45 min
6 06-PROGRAM-BANK.md Night before — programs are 3/4 of the paper 1.5 hrs

The cheat tables and the last-6-hours revision plan live inside IMPORTANT-QUESTIONS-AND-ANSWERS.md as Part 6 and Part 7 — nothing is separate.

Java version — pinned to 2025, not 2026

All code in this kit targets Java 25 LTS (released September 2025 — the current LTS as of 2025).

Target Java 25 LTS (2025)
Also compiles on Java 21 LTS · Java 17 LTS
Verified with javac --release 25 · --release 21 · --release 17
Java programs in the kit 139
Compiled and run 137 standalone — 0 errors, 0 run failures. The remaining 2 are the package example's consumer class, verified separately as a javac -d . build sequence
Warnings 4 advisory, all the same one — a missing serialVersionUID on a custom-exception example. Harmless, and normal for a teaching snippet
Not used Any Java 26 (2026) feature, any preview feature, any incubator API

Why this matters

Your college lab may run Java 17 or Java 21, not 25. Every program here compiles unchanged on all three — so nothing breaks when you paste it into whatever JDK the lab has installed.

What was deliberately avoided

These are newer than 2025 or still preview, so they are not in this kit:

Avoided Why
var Legal since Java 10, but writing the real type is clearer in an exam
Text blocks (""") Legal since Java 15, but a plain String is safer to write by hand
switch arrows (case X ->) Legal since Java 14, but the classic case X: break; form is what examiners expect
Records, sealed classes, pattern matching Too new; markers may not recognise them
Preview / incubator features Can vanish between releases — never use on an exam

The one real gotcha — console encoding

If you print non-ASCII characters (₹, ☕, accented letters) on a Windows console, they may come out as ? or . That is the console codepage, not your code.

// Safe approach for an exam — use words, not symbols
System.out.println("Amount: 1500 rupees");

// If you must use the symbol, this is the escaped form (always safe in source)
System.out.println("Amount: \u20B9 1500");

For an exam, write Rs. instead of ₹. Same marks, zero risk.

The one-paragraph summary

The paper is 60 marks, and it has a fixed shape. Every question is a stem with lettered sub-parts (a)(b)(c)(d), and those sub-parts only ever ask three things: Differentiate between X and Y, Explain … with a suitable example, or Write a Java program to …. Roughly two tables and one program per question. Unit 4 (OOP) is 30% of the paper. The marks are won by writing code, not by writing paragraphs — so every concept in this kit ships with a program and its expected output.

Source ranking (how much to trust each)

Source Trust Why
Sample Question/Question_Bank.pdf (repo) ★★★★★ format Real house style — sub-part structure, verbs, recurring pairs
Repo README weightage table ★★★★★ time budget Published official percentages
Your 8-unit PPT deck ★★★★ content Covers repo Units 1–5 only
Your Question Bank (41 Q) ★★★★ coverage Chapter N = Unit N, exactly
Your 3 Assignments ★★★★ coverage 15 questions, likely re-used
Quick_Revision/*.pdf (repo) ★★★★ content Condensed per-unit notes
Repo Lecture_Notes Ch6 + Unit7 ★★★★★ gap fill The two units your deck omits
Course Outcomes 1.pdf ★★ wording Uses classical OOP vocabulary; 5 COs vs repo's 6

⚠️ Two things to know before you start

  1. Your PPT deck is incomplete. It stops at Unit 5 of the repo syllabus. There is no coverage of Collections (Unit 6) or Multithreading / File I/O / Lambda / Stream API (Unit 7) — which together are 18% of the paper. File 03-UNITS-6-7-COLLECTIONS-ADVANCED.md fills that hole from the college's own slides.

  2. The course codes differ — 303105205 on your PDFs, 03010503PC03 in the repo. Same university, same semester, same department, same professor. This is the old code vs the NEP code for the same course. Ignore it; the content is the same subject.
